Nicole O’Dell is a director, producer, and screenwriter of indie film whose artistry spans both documentary and narrative worlds. She currently also works as a transmedia journalist telling stories via audible, visual, and print platforms. Her journey in this field for which she is passionate began nearly 20 years ago when she was a reporter, field producer, and associate producer in television covering local news. Receiving direct feedback from viewers while covering stories in various diverse communities around Brooklyn, led to an interest in telling impact stories with a desire to investigate and celebrate cultures while addressing humanitarian topics. Her work can be seen in the Pulitzer and Peabody award winning documentary This World: Bad Medicine. More recently she began production on a narrative film inspired by a creative approach to prison reform and a documentary that profiles a developer with an unusual profile and a new approach to gentrification that is inclusive of those normally forced to relocate. Watch Me Unfold, a film she shot in the spring of 2022 is an official selection of the Chelsea Film Festival 2022 as part of their ‘Women Behind the Lens’ series. She has crewed on other uncredited work and continues to produce stories that bring forward truth and help us to better as a society.
